Georges Braque was born May 13, 1882 in Argenteuil sur Seine, France. He studied art at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in La Havre and continued his studies in Paris. His early work was representative of the Fauve style of art, then popular. From 1909 he worked with Picasso in developing Cubism. In addition to painting he also did lithographs, engravings, and sculpture.
