Tiwanaku is an important Pre Colombian archaeological site that is located in western Bolivia in South America. Tiwanaku was an important precursor to the Inca Empire and flourished for about 500 years. Spanish conquistador Pedro Cieza de Len rediscovered its ruins in 1549
