He worked from 1787 to 1810. Jan Valentijn Schmidt was a small scale worker and mainly focused on sugar sprinkling spoons. The spoon with a scalloped edge has a cup at the bottom of the handle and a dove on the top. The spoon is hallmarked with the VS master mark, the Amsterdam city mark, and the date letter I for 1793.
