The spoon was made by the silversmith Gerard van Velzen from Bolsward. He was active from: 1721 to 1791. The spoon has a crowned horn as its maker's mark. (Voet 1974 336) Engraved on the spoon: Broer Piers Broersma born on October 4, 1835. His birth certificate from Wonseradeel indicates that he was registered on October 5 (page 102).
