D'origine thbaine, il est entr en 1855 dans les collections du Muse du Louvre Paris la suite d'un don fait par la vice consul de France Suez, Louis Batissier. Ce papyrus est dat de l'apoque grco romaine et, ressemblant beaucoup au papyrus Bremner Rhind, il devrait comme lui
